Flower Of The Day: Chrysanthemum

 Chrysanthemum or "Mums" are the flower of the city of Chicago and a symbol of the Sun. They are also used as an object for meditation. They are little wonder flowers that are nice to add in an arrangement, they will send the receiver some cheer!

Carly's Tips: Dunking Flowers

 This is a little glimpse of the flowers I did over the weekend for a beach wedding. I dunked some green hydrangeas and orchids in oversized vases and lined the aisle. Here are some dunking tips:

1. Find a vase that is symmetrical so when it's filled with water, the weight will be evenly balanced and it won't tip over.


2. Keep the water level at the top of the flower head.


3. Dunk flowers that won't easily come floating back to the top like: Hydrangeas, Callas, and Tulips.

The Orchid flower symbolizes love and affection in American culture. This flower was very popular during the Victorian era, it was seen as a luxury flower. In Chinese culture the Orchid represents being blessed with a household full of children.

Carly's Tips: Simply Modern

Making a modern flower arrangement is all about keeping it simple. Here are some tips for your modern arrangement:

1. All you need is one type of flower. 

2. Using clear glass vases with straight lines will help create a simple clean look.

3. Placing your arrangement in your home where there isn't a lot of clutter is the ideal place for a modern arrangement, otherwise it won't stand out.
