When you’re buying flowers you should consider a few things before just choosing the prettiest ones. Here are some tips that will help you pick the right flowers:
- For flowers you will keep at home pick flowers that have buds. They will open in your home over the next week beautifully.
- Check flower petals to make sure they are not wilted or brown. If they are, simply pull off the outer ones. If the inner petals are a bit brown, it will start to decompose the rest of the flower, especially roses. You can use a scissors to carefully trim the brown off, saving the petal.
- Using your hand, place your palm on top of the flower making sure it's stiff.
- If you’re buying flowers for a short- term celebration they can be open or beginning to open, this way their full bloom can be enjoyed. To force open flowers, give them a fresh cut and let them sit in warm water. Make sure to take off all of the packaging. Gently pull back the petals and blow into the center of the bud.
